Project Pan - Learning to Use What I Have
And it is a lot to last me years!
These past few weeks i’ve been thinking about how much stuff I have - especially when it comes to my beauty, skincare and my random bursts of creative outlook supplies. I am constantly buying in hopes I can get some inspiration, but I won’t lie more often than not it just sits in my drawer. So, I’m going to start a Project Pan.
If you never heard of Project Pan, I’m going to tell you what it is at least to me. It is a personal challenge to finish or necessarily “hit pan” on the items you already have instead of constantly going and buying more.
Why Am I Doing This?
I am constantly chasing the excitement of having something new. It can be a new set of pens. A new lipstick. - Like if it’s going to change my creativity. But hey let me be honest with you really quick. It just keeps adding to the clutter I have and my growing guilt.
Being able to start a project pan is my way of slowing down, learning to appreciate what I have, discover old favorites and even learning that I don’t really like this particular item and its time to rehome it (as long as its not expired or overly used.") No it’s not restricting myself - it is actually about being more intentional with what I have and what I don’t need.
Here Is My Plan
Firstly, I am in no way pressuring myself to finish everything! The goal is to make progress and notice what I actually use and enjoy. My “project pan list” right now looks a bit like this:
A few lip glosses that deserve their moment again
The perfume samples that are just living in a little container
That skincare serum I swore would change my life
And so much more…
So, each month I will be checking in with what I had used up, what I’m rediscovering, what I learned along the way and “if” I bought anything.

What I Hope to Learn
Maybe, just maybe I hope that this in turn will be more about just finishing up products. Maybe, just maybe, It will be about being able to let go of the need for something “new”. Maybe, I end up learning that I need to be more appreciative of what I have- they deserve my love and attention.
But, there is one thing I’ve come to learn from my hobby-hopping, it is that joy doesn’t always have to come from starting over- it can easily sometimes come from sticking with something long enough to see it through its greatness.
So, here is to decluttering, rediscovering and actually finally hitting pan- on so many products and hm maybe a few little bad habits.
